So one day while taking a walk during an acro meet, Derek told me how we all share particles from all over the universe. This is something you've maybe heard about, but there's nothing like hearing Derek explain quantum mechanics. We have a piece of art with that Walt Whitman quote hanging on the wall where we pass it everyday, right near some art depicting the Grand Canyon. It's a good reminder that we are much closer than we think or feel.
At the same time, I think of the astronauts who just returned from the ISS, whose perspective has been much more vast. I listened as the commenter narrated their re-entry; there's a point in de-orbiting where they're "committed to re-entry to Earth" and that made me feel a bit sad, for all the reasons.
But it reminded me that #science is beautiful, and that we don't just live in nature, we are nature. I wore my #BuiltToEndure shirt to remind myself that like redwoods and granite, I am resilient. And so are you. After all, every atom belonging to me as good as belongs to you.
